Famous in Japan for it's high-end soft rice "Koshi Hikari," and it's yearly fireworks festivals, the city of Nagaoka is located on the main island of "Honshu," which is the largest island of Japan. The city of Nagaoka is also well known for it's beautiful nature, it's heavy winter snow, and it's Nishikigoi.

In this photograph (taken on August 2nd 2019) spectators sit along Nagaoka's Shinano river to watch the annual fireworks show. Every year for two nights, a fireworks show is held in the city of Nagaoka in commemoration of the fire bombing of Nagaoka city which occurred on August 1st 1945.

A collection of Jomon period ceramic pots displayed at the Niigata Prefecturtural Museum of History, located in Nagaoka, Niigata Japan.

The ceramic pot in the photograph is from the Middle "Jomon" period which was about 4,000 to 5,000 years ago, and was produced by a hunter gatherer culture. Shards of ceramic pottery, figurines, ropes, tools and bones have been found scattered throughout Niigata prefecture.
